October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I know from experience that health might not be the biggest priority in a college student’s life.
Every year, about 70,000 people are diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 15 and 39, according to the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Progress review group, and 15% of that demographic accounts for breast cancer in that age group.
Cancer isn’t only found in an older demographic: there are stories of college-aged women self-testing and finding lumps where they shouldn’t be. The scariest part is when they delay seeing the doctor about it–the cancer could easily spread or grow into something much more dangerous if left unchecked for even a couple of months.
You can read some of their stories here.
Make sure you stay vigilant about your health… After all, you only have one life, so you have to cherish it the best you can!
